Implementation of a Hexapod mobile robot with a fuzzy controller

Fuzzy logic has features that are particularly attractive in light of the problems posed by autonomous robot navigation. Fuzzy logic allows us to model different types of uncertainty and imprecision. In this paper, the implementation of a hexapod mobile robot with a fuzzy controller navigating in unknown environments is presented. A robust fuzzy algorithm was created and integrated into a working hexapod robotic platform. The robot, MKIII, interprets input IR sensor data through the comparison of values in its fuzzy rule base and moves accordingly to avoid obstacles.   ROBOTICA / Volume 23 / Issue 06 / November 2005, pp 681-688 ; Copyright © 2005 Cambridge University Press

what I can provide

Owner and Consultant for a small, Lean UX company with big experience! We create User-centered, SEO-optimized, responsive websites, mobile and tablet apps for Startups, large digital agencies to Fortune 500 companies (B2B and B2C).

Lean UX

Lean UX lets you focus on the actual experience being designed, rather than deliverables. Gather feedback early and often and drive the design in short, iterative cycles to assess what works best for the business and the user.

Responsive Web Design

With responsive web design, your website becomes a fluid display of information that re-organizes and rebuilds itself according to the needs of the individual. Creating a customized and intuitive user experience and improving performance across all user-types.

Usability Testing

Using psychology, human behavior and neuroscience, to create groundbreaking user experiences that increase your sales as much as possible.

Mobile UX/UI Design

I design apps and responsive sites that are intuitive, easy-to-use and positively impact people's lives.

Visual Design

The final look and feel of a digital application—the user interface (UI). These designs are aimed to exceed user expectations by marrying a product’s interface architecture with an aesthetic and user experience (UX) that brings it to life.

Information and System Architecture

This is where research really begins to merge with design—we create workflows, wireframes, process flows and data maps to help connect the dots between a user’s input and expected output.

Rapid Prototyping

This step in the process takes us from pencil and paper to fully interactive digital prototypes. We rapidly test hypothesis gained from research with key user groups before going into production.

User Experience

At the heart of everything I do lies a great user experience. I take pride in my interfaces that I design for my clients and will try to be the advocate for the user while balancing Development and Business needs & goals.

Understanding Your App :How Task-Based Testing Can Enhance the User Experience

Posted by Arthur Moan |06 Jan 16 |

January 6, 2016

The use of mobile apps has risen sharply in recent years, and so too has their importance to many businesses and organizations. Driven by the prevalence of smart phones, tablets and mobile internet connections, recent data revealed that since 2008, 100 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple’s App Store alone.

Once an app has been successfully developed and launched, it’s sink or swim time as it enters a crowded and highly competitive market place. A recent study by Google and Ipsos found that as many as one in four downloaded apps are never used. And even when they are, poor user experience can be responsible for missed conversions, and, in the case of e-commerce apps, lost sales and revenue. Understanding and perfecting the mobile app experience is therefore essential for any…read more

Usability lessons to Improve Self-Service

Posted by Sarah Chambers |05 Jan 16 |

Self-service sites can provide the best user experiences – giving full control to the user – or they can cause enormous frustrations. Author Sarah Chambers shows us some of the design principles that were used to make gov.uk one of the top self service sites available – and how we can use those same principles to improve our work.

Let’s Get Physical:The expanding role of digital UX design in a connected world

Posted by Chad Otis |28 Dec 15 |

December 28, 2015

The way we interact with technology is quickly moving from the screens in our pockets into the physical world around us. Smart homes, autonomous cars, cloud-based healthcare, and wearables are just some of the connected products currently dominating this conversation. With a predicted 50 billion connected products in market by 2020, UX designers will need to expand their view and be more collaborative than ever as they take on the many challenges and opportunities that come with this ever-expanding definition of omnichannel.

The good news is many of the UX principles we’ve defined in designing digital products will hold true in the highly connected environments of tomorrow. The even better news is that, as UX designers, we’re inheriting a hugely expanded set of tools and challenges as we collaborate more and more with architects, automobile designers, civil engineers, city planners, industrial designers, behavioral…read more

The Top UX Predictions for 2016

Posted by UX Magazine Staff |30 Dec 15 |

December 30, 2015

It’s that time of year again, where we present our annual UX predictions for the coming year. Will there be an increased focus on mobile? Will experiences be more tailored to the individual user? Will the UX we’re familiar with change so dramatically that we’ll have to call it something else altogether?

Without further ado, here are some predictions for 2016 from our contributors.

Adopting UX: The Challenge of Change – Scott Plewes, Macadamian

More and more, large companies are bringing UX teams in house and seeing it as a fundamental element of their business success. UX experts are being hired, or entire consultancy firms are being acquired as a whole to shore up larger companies capabilities. This is not surprising, given the important role UX is playing in the marketplace and what Forrester is calling “the age of the customer.” Companies that were not founded…read more

Remote User Research & Usability Methods

Posted by Anna Iurchenko |04 Jan 16 |

January 4, 2016

We all want to create products that make people’s lives easier and more enjoyable, products that delight people around us and ourselves. Creating great experiences starts with understanding your users, their behavior, motivations and goals.

Remote user studies are ideal for getting insights from end-users who may be located anywhere in the world. These studies provide access to a larger pool of potential customers, cut out travel time, and can significantly lower the cost of usability testing.

In this article I would like to discuss methods and tools for effective remote UX research, as well as how to make sure your research findings are put to good use.

When remote study works

Remote user research has two key advantages over traditional testing:

  • Flexibility. The remote method allows you to connect with…read more
